Lion Painting

This lion is a direct descendant of my first lion.  A client liked the previous one but wanted a different size and different colors and this is the result.  I do really love the colors of this one, and rather than predatory, like my first one, this one looks like a paradise lion. Sold, but I have mini-posters and magnets.

Art Studio Work

Today is GREEN DAY! I bet you didn’t know! Well, it is self-declared, but Green Day it is. Of course it would be on a complimentary background, right? Of interest would be my lion magnets and a couple Artist Trading Cards. The delicious sea monster was made by one of our boys.  Love! Often when I paint I’ll tape down some nice sizes of watercolor paper to get crisp white borders and lay down colors to make cards, postcards and bookmarks. And... tools of the trade, por supuesto! And how is your Green Day going?

I’m curious, of these six animals, which is your favorite? Because of a goofy sketch I did of a grizzled old lion, I began painting animals and haven’t been able to stop! I took my Dad to the doctor expecting to go in as well.  When the doctor slammed the door in my face I paged through magazines looking for a good picture to draw. I happened upon an old, grizzled lion and had a good old time drawing him. Later I thought, “I could paint a lion...” Since that time I’ve painted lions and tigers and bears, oh my! ... and so much more.
