My Desk

My desk is looking pretty good these days.

Texas Landscape

Still wet - the beautiful Gulf. The gradation of colors is the star of this show!  I put the oil rigs in because it's an important part of the Texas landscape, and kept everything close to the blue line as that's really the subject.

These colors are difficult to photograph.  The painting fairly glows with its layers of colors which can't be picked up in a photograph.  18x24" on gallery wrapped canvas.

I scribbled a couple, cut them out, and moved  'em all over the canvas for decisions on placement.  :)

Layers of gorgeous color.  Love.

Martin Luther Quote

Yep. True. Martin Luther quote on my painting.

Charlie Harper

I love Charlie Harper! Look closely to see how the roadrunner and lizard are interacting. His sense of humor comes out in his work.

Abstract

Working on abstracts and backgrounds all day today. LOVE abstracts! I was landing on using this one for a background tomorrow, but I like it so much as it is, I'm having a hard time thinking about covering most of it up!

I may not be able to cover it at all.

My Palette

What can I say? Artist palettes are cool!

Foxtrot vs. Max Ernst

Good old Foxtrot.  I wonder if he had Max Ernst's trees in mind when he created this one.  Ha, ha!  I've always loved Foxtrot.

Painting Notes

Notes for my recent painting which has not yet been revealed. Years later I can refer to this for repairs if need be - hopefully not!!  I name the painting Sylvan - Latin for forest.

Wolf

These glowing eyes can make a huge presence on your wall; click on colorcatstudios101.etsy.com.

Self Portrait

Now and then I'll do a self portrait, to keep myself honest, because I always make my students do them.  This one took a marker and 20 minutes. I named it 'Workday Do with Piratey Earring,' but is better known to me as my Sarah Palin Portrait. Yikes!

Just remember, markers don't erase, so you have to be forgiving about all the quirks and just consider them charming!

Abstract Painting, Wunkerfunkin

Oh goodness I love this one! This riot of color and texture can be yours at my website. As you can see, it was a joy both to paint and to name.  Actually, our daughter named it and it was perfect.

Inflatable Highway Dancers

Ya know those blow up highway guys? Couldn't resist #painting them! One for every mood! For sale - Colorcatstudios101.etsy.com

I didn't set out to paint them; we were sitting in our car eating a nice Panera lunch, looking across the lot at one of these guys. It was like dinner and a show! I did a quick sketch.  Then another.  My sandwich got cold.  I did another. Before I knew it, I'd filled up three pages of blow up guys and thought... 'I could paint this...'

Sets Painting, Reconstructing Alice

These are some of the sets I painted for Reconsteucting Alice. Note: that is a ten foot ladder.  At one point I was standing on TOP of it in front of the inactive speaker mounted up in the front corner.  Melody finished running the practice and blazed the music into my face!  I almost went for a very short flight!!!

She wanted a post apocalyptic style.

These are all painted in front of the red curtain. I'll show you what I painted on the stage walls next time.  Until then!

Chinese Calligraphy

Practicing my Chinese calligraphy.  Some of my favorite words - perfume, dragon, cat, paintbrush, horse... Trust yourself and see if you can figure them out.

New Paint!

I tell my students to do testing every time they get new supplies. That applies to all artists! Checking out the new Matisse colors tonight.  Loving the Australian Sienna, Matisse Emerald and Indigo particularly. :)

Garden Succulents Painting

This #painting is still wet! I had to stand in the pool with my camera to take the initial photos. :)

For sale soon or contact me. 30x30" on a deep, gallery wrapped canvas.

Here are some closeups for you:

Oh, man, I love the colors in this.  Glory and breezy all at once.
