Comparing Acrylic to Watercolor

Do you prefer one over the other?
First painting:  Acrylic
Second painting:  Watercolor and ink

For me watercolors tend to be more ‘free.’ I like to quickly draw, quickly paint and have it be a little crazy.

With acrylics I get a little pickier and can spend a LOT of time on them.  You can see that the BEGGAR’S face is detailed, but the farther you get from his face, the wilder it gets.  That’s simply my style, and helps you focus on what’s important instead of, say, his tail.  So... which do you like better? :)

SOLD - Chicago Blackhawks Paint Pour

SOLD! My people wanted me to do a paint pour with the Chicago Blackhawks’ colors.  Their son’s room is done in entirely these colors and they knew this would be a winning choice.  Loving the little cells in this one -to me, some of them look like pomegranate seeds.  Lots to look at in this piece and I am loving those Chicago Blackhawk colors.  You can find more at

www.colorcatstudios101.etsy.com
Here’s a closeup of some of those cool cells:
Below is the entire painting:
Another closeup.  I really like the little yellow/orange/black ones flowing like a stream between the others.
And,
Aaaahhh! Love it!  I’m up for doing some more team colors!

Traveling Artist, The Parthenon (Nashville)

Did you even know there’s a Parthenon in Nashville?  Nashville’s called the ‘Athens of the South,’ so they built a plaster Parthenon to celebrate.  It was so popular but plaster doesn’t last so they built this beautiful Parthenon exactly like the original!  It is truly beautiful.  Who knew?

And can I just comment about the cirrus clouds? It seems like Nashville has an abundance of them.  Light, dry, breezy conditions.  Houston being so humid has an abundance of cumulus clouds, which I also love.  But we sure are enjoying the cool, fresh air and deep blue skies!
Remember, it’s exactly to scale.  Nice to see one that’s not been aged for thousands of years, huh? :)

Traveling Artist, Nashville

Some pics from Nashville.  We went to the Country Music Hall of Fame.  This is me and my friend playing some guitar...

This is me standing by a wall of art posters from Austin, TX.  Keep Austin weird!!

The next two are just gorgeous shots I took looking up at a staircase in the museum.

This last one is Elvis’ gold plated car. :)
