Indigo Fantasy

If you have to be home it’d sure be nice to stare at something gorgeous, huh?

I finally got this painting posted for sale now on my website,
I LOVE IT!  I kept it super sketchy for movement and glazed it in layers and layers of deep blues and violets.  Because of the glazing it takes on a glowing, stained glass appearance in person.  The colors are super hard to capture but it’s a combination of all these put together.
This one, for example, is far too purple, and has too much light shining on it...
This one’s nice...

The many layers of glazing make this glow like a stained glass window, one color beneath another. ❤️

Another closeup...

$700.00. There’s a lot more info on my website and I also give studio tours - and free gifts with each tour!  Just ask!

Phoenix Rising Painting

I decided to orient this painting vertically because I like the way that red wing stands out; hence I named it ‘Phoenix Rising.’  However, if you give it a turn to the horizontal it looks mysteriously like a chicken!!

Any way you decide to orient it, I’ve now got it available on mugs, pillows, stickers, phone cases and more.  You can find it here:
This will definitely put a bright spot in your home, whether you need a phoenix rising or... a chicken!

Abominable Baby Bird Painting

This is my ‘Abominable Baby Bird.’ I laugh each time I see him.  Paint pours don’t often turn into something recognizable, so as he formed I helped him along and gave an extra flame treatment (it releases bubbles) along the edges of his wings to get all those little bubbles to surface.  I like it!  I think it gives movement and makes him look a bit frazzled and frizzled. 🙂. Anyway, my crazy bird is for sale at

An Artist’s Palette

I love working with this silver paint by Golden Products.  It’s SUPER shiny and silvery.  Paints and other materials really can make or break a painting.  If you want great work, use great stuff.

Which of these two paintings do you like best? The first one reminds me of pastel bubbles; the second makes me think of a delta.  Both of these designs are now on all kinds of things that will brighten your home and wardrobe!  They’re having a 20% sale today.

I really ADORE these paint pours and am looking forward to warmer weather when I can make more!

Acanthus Paintings

This piece and its mate have been in the works for several weeks.  After much planning, careful steps and a mad rush of creativity it’s time for the finishing touches.

Not done yet but these minute finishing touches have taken up my entire day.  Getting there!

I am absolutely loving the textures and took a couple closeup shots for you to get the feel of it.

Love these!  I’m hoping to have both paintings completely finished by Saturday night.

Art Teacher Life

Absolutely buried under Artist Trading Cards.  Artist Trading Cards, or ATCs, are to be traded card for card among artists.  We’re exploring pattern my classes and have been looking at contemporary artists that work in the textile industry.  Our first trade will be ‘Patterns.’ So much fun!
I’ve been working with my awesome Molotow chrome pen; that’s why they’re laying all over.  They have to dry!!
Cool, huh? I’m also teaching them about focal point, thus the card I’m holding up has a focal point because of the black ink outline.

Now everything’s wet and I just need to walk away.  So... I’m going to go work out, swim and shower, then come home for supper and go to orchestra.  That’ll take me until about 9:00.  At that point, I’ll probably have a little snack, enjoy my fam and hopefully get a little more work done before bed.

Art Show in The Woodlands

Last night Melody and I went to the opening of Argentine Art in Texas at Glade Gallery here in The Woodlands. We each chose a favorite painting.  Melody’s was a super thought-provoking piece by Ariel de la Vega.  It was done with pencil, cotton threads, ink and acrylic.  We both pretty much love it.  I chose a lush painting of peonies by Maria Marta Morelli.  If I had the patience to commit 200 hours to each painting, I’d paint like this; it is gorgeous!
Super fascinating detail.

Oh, well, and the piano. Love.

It was a fabulous evening (even if we missed the music.  Oh, well!)

SOLD - Chicago Blackhawks Paint Pour

SOLD! My people wanted me to do a paint pour with the Chicago Blackhawks’ colors.  Their son’s room is done in entirely these colors and they knew this would be a winning choice.  Loving the little cells in this one -to me, some of them look like pomegranate seeds.  Lots to look at in this piece and I am loving those Chicago Blackhawk colors.  You can find more at

www.colorcatstudios101.etsy.com
Here’s a closeup of some of those cool cells:
Below is the entire painting:
Another closeup.  I really like the little yellow/orange/black ones flowing like a stream between the others.
And,
Aaaahhh! Love it!  I’m up for doing some more team colors!

Relaxing Paint Pour

I’m really happy with this piece and love the way the cells formed (a pouring artist’s goal). The cool colors are so calming they remind me of water and that little pop of hot red gels the entire work.  I love it!

You can see where I signed it on and notice that all sides are a continuation of the front.  Just one of those little extras I think this is important to the whole and enhances the entire painting. Also, the frame is two inches deep; one of my paintings has some real heft.  Another indicator of quality.

And... our son...

Another closeup...

These babies are made not only for you but for your great grandchildren!  Find this and similar works at www.colorcatstudios101.etsy.com

This last shot is the entire piece.  Pretty much loving it.

Finished Cat Commission Painting

Just delivered these two buddies.  It is SO satisfying to finish a painting.  Really love these babies and I understand they’re the best of friends.  If you look closely you can see that my final varnish echos both the background and the cats’ fur, AND I signed it with a thumbprint into that glossy final coat!  It is so true that artists put a part of themselves into their work, in ever so many ways.
Oh we love to make faces...

Oh my goodness, they are so beautiful!!! My clients were extremely happy!
Handsome fellow. :)

You can find more like this at www.colorcatstudios101.etsy.com.  Lots of Christmas gifts too!

KITTY Cat for Sale

Oh man, I love this one!  I named this one ‘The Watcher.’  I kept my brushstrokes loose to give you the feel of a really soft, pettable cat, and also lightened up on the acrylics with many layers of glaze to keep him looking FLUFFY.  12”x24” it’s for sale on my website, www.colorcatstudios101.etsy.com.   You can find lots of other photos of this as well.

Studio Art Work

This is some of the work behind my paintings.  I take meticulous notes which stand behind the legacy of my art for future repairs, new work or whatever.  These are my records for kitty noses for a piece for a client.  I have years of notebooks like this, all dated and labeled.  When you purchase my work, you’re purchasing an heirloom.  Best products, archival and acid free.
