Winter Landscapes

We’ve been in survival mode for so long since we’ve been FREEZING OUR BUTTS OFF that last night I just had to move some paint around.  Working with my mood I painted these tiny, cold landscapes. 

This morning as I walked past my studio the first sun of the week streamed in and arrested me with this beautiful image of the shadows playing across my desk. 💙 

These tiny pieces are 94% finished.  Only minor focal points to complete them. #texascold #wemightactuallylivenow 

Father, we thank You for your sheltering wings.  Please protect those who are still without power and water and we THANK you for warmer days to come.  AMEN.

Enchanted Rock Painting

Here’s a closeup of my newest painting which is a tiny 8”x8” square, named Enchanted Rock to memorialize those shallow, rocky streams all over it. The painting has a lot of iridescents and golds in it which don’t photograph well.  I also put my sock monkey mug in for size comparison and then Pippy the Quality Checker moved in too. 🙂

Landscape Abstract... sort of...

Fall Leaves Painting

This painting is simply a celebration of fall, cool weather and the beautiful colors that ensue.  Hooray! It’s mixed media and I love the way the layers interplay with each other.  I call it Measure for Measure.  You can find its details on my website.

Big Ben Painting Explained

Here is the partner painting to Jabberwock which I just posted, although this is 30” square and the gears painting is, I think, 20”x24”. I grew up helping my dad build, well, everything, and am familiar with the chalk line.  I used mine to get the perspective straight in this piece and loved the look!  Look closely and you’ll see red lines from the thwack of my string.  I liked it so much that I painted over them to make them permanent.  This painting of Big Ben is named ‘Reconstructing Alice,’ for Refine Arts’ show of the same name.
