Winter Landscapes

We’ve been in survival mode for so long since we’ve been FREEZING OUR BUTTS OFF that last night I just had to move some paint around.  Working with my mood I painted these tiny, cold landscapes.

This morning as I walked past my studio the first sun of the week streamed in and arrested me with this beautiful image of the shadows playing across my desk. 💙

These tiny pieces are 94% finished.  Only minor focal points to complete them. #texascold #wemightactuallylivenow

Father, we thank You for your sheltering wings.  Please protect those who are still without power and water and we THANK you for warmer days to come.  AMEN.

Sticker Art

Who do you know that you could make really happy with a few stickers?  New holographic stickers here!  And what better painting to use for them than this adorable cat?  This is from one of my most popular paintings.  You can find them in my store now at:

I put the above one with those little hole stickers for size.

Pretty much love these.

Into each life some holographic stickers should definitely fall.

Sold Fox Painting

Well, that didn’t take long; the inks barely dried!  I think I struck a chord with foxes.  🧡🧡 I think that this, my ‘Electric Fox’ is the perfect blend between reality and whimsey.  I love him!

Pippy’s Adventures Painting

Pippy’s checking out the work.  I don’t think he’s impressed. 😆 He’s more concerned with squirrels, birds, lizards and voles.

This one’s called ‘Oh, Pippy!’  For sale.  If you love cats I have an entire series called ‘Pippy’s Adventures.’ You can see the whole series and a bunch of videos if you check me out on Instagram as Color_Cat_Cindy or go to my website,

New Cat Painting

This painting, which I named ‘Oh, Pippy,’ (for all the times we say exactly that when he gets into trouble) will be revealed this evening in its entirety.  The crazy, wild background symbolizes all the trouble and messes he gets into.  For sale.

Here he is in his unfinished state, wild, crazy background to indicate his wild, crazy, troublemaking self. 🤭

You will find him tonight at colorcatstudios101.etsy.com

The Woodlands Artist, My Studio

Welcome to my studio! This is The Room Where it Happens.🎬.  Remember when you look at this that Einstein said that an empty desk meant an empty mind and his space was a mess!

Running Cheetah Painting

This big beauty is speeding along, kicking up the dirt on a bed of gold.  A very special painting looking for a very special place.  Message me if you’re interested in this beautiful all-archival piece.

It is truly beautiful.

An Artist’s Sketchbook

This week I’m going through my sketchbooks to find examples for my art students for classes next week. I’m teaching them to paint in a non-intimidating way by painting backgrounds only, upon which we will start drawing next week.

You can see I obviously painted this background first, likely intending it to be a floral.  I think I drew this pretty lady from a magazine while flying from somewhere to somewhere, but... I really have no idea.  Anyway, here she is.  I thought she was as pretty as a flower, so it fit.

I make a practice of preparing my sketchbookpages with backgrounds of color because I usually just travel with pens.  With the background done, my work is also half done.

Fall Giveaway of Art!

GIVEAWAY?!?! Now that fall is officially here, I will be giving away this acrylic painting! Watch for details. 🍁🍃🍂🍁🍃🍂

Michelangelo

We’ve been looking at Michelangelo in my art classes.  On the Sistine Chapel ceiling, this is one of the Old Testament prophets that foretold Christ’s coming. Through time we’ve been looking at how symbolism is changing.  Can you look at this picture and guess who the prophet is?

SPOILER ALERT!  The fish.  Jonah. The interesting thing here is that Michelangelo wasn’t content with just painting a figure.  As in all his work he wanted to create a figure at a particular moment.  An example is his sculpture David - at the very moment he was coiling his muscles and scrutinizing Goliath as he contemplated the kill (vastly different from all sculptures of David that went before.)

So, Jonah? Can you see here that God’s telling Jonah to go, and Jonah is struggling with ‘No, I don’t want to do that! I... think I’ll run away... I’m going to fight this...’  Every fiber of his being in this painting is struggling with God.  Only got Jonah into, uh, deep trouble, wouldn’t you say?  I guess the moral of the story is - let’s obey God the first time, shall we?

I teach at two locations, The Training Center

www.ttcclasses.com

And HIS Classes (Homeschool Instructional Support Classes)

www.hisclasses.org

These are formal art classes that run through the entire school year for homeschoolers.  Both organizations offer all subjects; I just happen to be the lucky person to teach art.

I also teach super fun, super messy classes in the summertime so let me know if you’re interested.
