Leaves on the Ground Painting

Happy Saturday! The best photo in this bunch is the last one. ;)

Today’s a good day to walk around to see what beautiful things are laying on the ground.  It’s fall!  Let’s think fall and maybe it will cool off a bit.

The days are getting shorter.  This painting is available, and yes, these three photos are of the same painting which I created with color shifting paint!  Aren’t they beautiful?

Fall Leaves Painting

This painting is simply a celebration of fall, cool weather and the beautiful colors that ensue.  Hooray! It’s mixed media and I love the way the layers interplay with each other.  I call it Measure for Measure.  You can find its details on my website.

Leaf Printing with Linoleum Block

Oh my goodness I am loving the effects you can achieve with carved linoleum prints! The leaves I carved and showed in a previous post look positively ethereal on this background.  Loving this medium.

Abstract Painting... Almost

Here’s a closeup of a section of ‘Enter,’ the previous painting I posted.  I love the abstract qualities of this piece. Happy day to you!

Berry Wreath Painting

My work this morning was listing this tiny little jewel on my website. Painted in layers of transparent glazing, the colors peek through one another and you feel as if you can gaze deeply into it.  Very difficult to photograph because of its shine, it looks something like this! I love berries and all things growing! You can find what inspired me, more pics and purchasing details at

colorcatstudios101.etsy.com. On my website you can find purchase information, lots more photos and also what inspired me!

I put in so many pictures because each one is different.  Very difficult to photograph, and in differing lights it looks different.

I would say the one below is truest to the natural colors of the painting.  It is very deep and layered, and you feel as if you can see into the depths when you look at it in person.

Oh my goodness, I love this tiny little piece!

My Sketch Pad

Working it out in my sketch pad. Sometimes just laying down some leftover paint on a couple pages can be inspiring.  I’ve had mulberries on the brain for several weeks since it’s picking time and I’m a nature girl. Mentally working out some designs, I happened upon these painted pages and it was the perfect place to lay down some ideas.

I look at my sketchpads as recipe books.  Something wonderful may come from this little sketch.  Maybe in a couple years, something ELSE wonderful and totally unrelated may come from this same sketch.  You never know.

And in the meantime, if anyone needs an artistic manicure, just come on over.

Bright Colors and Flowers!

I love color so much that even my color testing charts end up with art on top of them.  Actually, I think they make a good base for art, and would love to have a dress that looks like this.  What do you think?

Here’s a nice closeup of the cool color area; ooohhh... makes me feel peaceful.

I like this little hotspot too.  Gives a whole new meaning to the phrase ‘hot spot,’ huh? Hmmm... maybe that’s what I should name this little piece.  Done!  Hot Spot!  Yep.  That’s how an artist’s mind works!

(If you have any hot spots, I can paint them for you.  Just ask!
