Acanthus Paintings

This piece and its mate have been in the works for several weeks.  After much planning, careful steps and a mad rush of creativity it’s time for the finishing touches.

Not done yet but these minute finishing touches have taken up my entire day.  Getting there!

I am absolutely loving the textures and took a couple closeup shots for you to get the feel of it.

Love these!  I’m hoping to have both paintings completely finished by Saturday night.

Painting Classically

Here we go again.  I’ve been working these two paintings together; the painting in the bottom photo is finished and now I’m doing the serious work on its mate.  A little progress report so you can see how I work.  FYI, it’ll be a while before I get good photos of these as they’re all golds and blacks.  Where you see the light reflecting glows, so it’s hard to photograph.  It should be a challenge for a photographer’s camp or something.

Always the thumbnails first.  And yes, my phone is a mess.  That’s because I USE it.  The sticker is one of my paintings; I sell stickers on my etsy site and my Society6 site.
Background done, so it begins.

Hello, Fibonacci!  You know I love you.
Here’s the finished one.  They’ll be a beautiful pair.

Acanthus Leaves, Newest Painting

This pencil, pen and watercolor piece and the other two pics foreshadow the painting I just finished TODAY!!!  This afternoon will be photography (and soup making) so watch my feed and I’ll post my full-blown 30”x30” painting tonight!

 I am EXCITED.

I really love the watercolor; it seems fit for framing itself.  The big painting is acrylic and charcoal and was a JOY to paint.  I have long love acanthus leaves; they inspire me in so many ways.  Looks like the start of a new series... I used @rubymountainpaintco and @hydracolour handmade paints for this; LOVE THEM.

Wait until you see the finished piece.  A blurry portion is shown here in the background behind the brushes.  :). TONIGHT!!

Linoleum Cutting, Acanthus Leaf

Oh, man, I love block printing with linoleum blocks! My advanced art class doesn’t know it yet but we’re about to go into full production for Christmas.  Drawing it in and cutting the blocks is rewarding and peaceful and printing with them is about has hard to stop as picking berries.

I don’t know about YOU, but when I start picking berries, it’s well nigh impossible for me to stop!  Same with prints.  Currently all surfaces are covered can with prints over here. :)
