Art Inspiration

This is what happens when we have peonies, my favorite flower. First a little sketch. Then a drawing.  Then, hmmm... this would be a nice print block, and now... NOW... I am going to be carving FOREVER.  It’s a wonderful work, really, to see this come into fruition in front of my eyes, but it is a long process and my hands are tired.

I think I’m gong to go for a walk.  Maybe I’ll find flowers...

Staying Home Making Art

At it again! Quarantine printing!  First, the idea, then the sketch...
Then making those sketches into a real, exact drawing,
Cutting, cutting, cutting...

Then, the virgin print and more cutting to clean things up...
I am really loving the results.  In my next posts I’ll show you more printing on different backgrounds.

Print Maker

There’s something about black and white.  Even though I’m a color girl, I always find my way back to black and white.  These are linoleum prints.  Can you tell which are the carved blocks in each photo?

Linoleum blocks are EVER SO MUCH EASIER to carve than wood and make beautiful prints. Being a complicated girl, I lean toward prints that are complex and layered. I adore the printing process and can get totally lost in it for hours. I hope my work shows the love.

Linoleum Cutting, Acanthus Leaf

Oh, man, I love block printing with linoleum blocks! My advanced art class doesn’t know it yet but we’re about to go into full production for Christmas.  Drawing it in and cutting the blocks is rewarding and peaceful and printing with them is about has hard to stop as picking berries.

I don’t know about YOU, but when I start picking berries, it’s well nigh impossible for me to stop!  Same with prints.  Currently all surfaces are covered can with prints over here. :)
