Rocks and Roots Series

These are part of my Rock and Root Series which I began after looking down at a sidewalk with paving stones and gravel.  

They shine like jewels and as you can see change colors with the light.  Three of these photos are of the same card.  

Man, aren’t they GORGEOUS??!! 


This makes it a challenge because I have to make sure all colors are complimentary at all angles.  Teeny tiny art, to cheer in big ways.

Color Changing Cards

I just put these color changing ON FIRE cards on my website,

They are created with with color changing paints which sizzle with different colors of heat at each angle. They are ON FIRE!!  

The blue and black patterns are printed from a linoleum block which I carved.  You can how the colors change and how each card is united with the others but completely original.

These are part of my tiny art series - small items to make great art available to everyone! Where would you put yours? 

These are ACEOs,  Art Card Edition and Originals -  they are all completely different and original.  It’s a great way to collect great art from an artist without spending too much! It measures 2 1/2” x 3 1/2”.  Many people like to collect these in books, like trading cards, and some like to display them on a desk or in a tiny frame.

These are ACEOs - Art Cards Editions and Originals.  Many people collect these in what’s called the ‘Pocket Movement.’ I guess that goes right along with Tiny Houses!  It’s part of my plan to make my original art available to everyone. :)

Art Class Printmaking

My classes for the next few weeks will be doing print making. Here are some artist trading cards I made in preparation. If you’re NOT in my classes, I’ll still swap; give me a holler. Some of the qualities in art that I find important are layers, texture, color and contrast.  Hopefully you can find those things here. If you want to learn a little more, look for my video on these cards which I will post right after this. Once my students get a handle on making prints with some of the elements I just mentioned I’m going to have them make artist trading cards so we can all trade. FUN!

Art Teacher Life

Absolutely buried under Artist Trading Cards.  Artist Trading Cards, or ATCs, are to be traded card for card among artists.  We’re exploring pattern my classes and have been looking at contemporary artists that work in the textile industry.  Our first trade will be ‘Patterns.’ So much fun!

I’ve been working with my awesome Molotow chrome pen; that’s why they’re laying all over.  They have to dry!!

Cool, huh? I’m also teaching them about focal point, thus the card I’m holding up has a focal point because of the black ink outline.

Now everything’s wet and I just need to walk away.  So... I’m going to go work out, swim and shower, then come home for supper and go to orchestra.  That’ll take me until about 9:00.  At that point, I’ll probably have a little snack, enjoy my fam and hopefully get a little more work done before bed.

Teeny Tiny Art Time

Here’s a tiny piece I created inspired by a building I saw downtown.  Sitting at a stop light I looked to my left and there it was in all its beauty!  Believe it or not, it was a parking garage.  A very NICE parking garage!  

I like doing these tiny works as they inspire me to bigger works.  I can get the inspiration out with no pressure and it’s down for when I have time or need to be inspired.  Here I’ve got it sitting on my palette for a nice pop of color.  I think it’s time to get back into artist trading cards.

Tiny Art, Artist Trading Cards

Teeny Tiny Art Time!  Wow! Can you believe it’s finally back? This little piece is only 2 1/2”x3 1/2” in a series of four masks I created.  I’ve shown it with some bullet casings for size. As we’re back in school and I’m an art teacher, my time is broken up and I don’t have as much time to create.  Looking at my past work and creating small inspires me, then I’m off to big stuff again! Plus, I LOVE artist trading cards!
