Unique, Creative Art

As a professional artist I’ve created paintings and said goodbye to them as they have all gone to various new homes around the world. Over the years I’ve watched as my style has changed. I look back at paintings I’ve sold and think, ‘hmm... I guess that’ll never happen again, I don’t even paint like that anymore.’ I change, I grow, I move on to new ideas; after all, I have an entire world of creativity to explore!

All this to say, if you are eyeing art by an artist, ANY artist, whatever medium, BUY IT. You are not buying Walmart (fake, reproduced, fall-apart) art, you’re investing in an artist’s life. You’re purchasing an heirloom, a legacy and it’s not going to come around again. If you miss your chance, that particular piece will never happen again.

You can join the artist in that shining, creative moment in time and enjoy a beautiful, unique piece that can never be reproduced. Now THAT is special. Yes, Mr. Bear is long gone, but I DO have small posters of him at

Lion Postcards, Posters and Magnets

I took my Dad to the doctor expecting to go in as well. When the doctor slammed the door in my face I paged through magazines looking for a good picture to draw. I happened upon an old, grizzled lion and had a good old time drawing him. Later I thought, “I could paint a lion...” Since that time I’ve painted lions and tigers and bears, oh my! ... and so much more. The original painting, which measured 24x30”, is sold, but was so popular I made mini-posters, magnets and postcards. Check them and my other animals out on the website I noted above. I also have bears, lions, wolves, owls, cats... :O ❤️

Turkish tour

Another look at those natural color-sources. I asked about cochineal, because you couldn't just have that on a shelf, and yes, their deep reds are cochineal. It's a South American insect that is a parasite to the prickly pear. Owners deposit them into their fields, and blow them off and collect them once they're big. Then they crush their fat, bloody bodies for a nice, natural, red dye. I'm so happy to report that the rug we purchased has cochineal in it. I'm also happy to report that it's likely in your lipstick and blush, ladies, and if you drink cherry coke - it's in there, too! :)

'My' Chair

At our theatre the other night we had an orchestra meeting after I taught my sets class. After about a half hour, someone pulled me out of the meeting for a few minutes. When I came back, everyone in the room was laughing and pointing to the nice, uh, black leather chair. I had paint on the back of my shirt, and it permanently smeared all over the leather! The last time I went in the office, I noticed that someone had taped up the sign you see here. One way to lay claim to something! Well, it's not the first time, let's see, there's my driveway with many colors of paint, our carpet with Peter Pan green footprints, my car with yellow paint on the seat, my gloves, half of my clothes. It seems like everyone likes my painted clothes, kind of like already-broken-in-jeans. Maybe I should start a clothing line!
