Quarantine Art

I’ve been working on a project to make my art affordable for everyone! You see one photo with four art cards and three more photos - those three are all the same card at different angles! Here are the four together.

And here are three photos of ONE CARD:

I created them in layers of texture and color which reveal something new at every turn.  These collectors cards, called ACEOs (Artist Cards Editions and Originals) are tiny one of a kind treasures affordable to everyone. You can find these at:

If you look very closely you may find a bit of playing card revealed.  Because I love complicated work I enjoy seeing through one layer to another (just ask me what kind of music I listen to!). I’m giving a nod to the playing cards I used as a base.  These pieces are ALWAYS 2 1/2” x 3 1/2” exactly because people like to put them in collector’s albums, just like playing cards!

Quarantine Printing

The beautiful thing about block printing is that each piece has its own characteristics and no two are the same.  I love the way you can see right through these.

Artist at Work

All four of these photos are of the same cool piece!  I’ve been experimenting with layers of pencil, linoleum prints and color changing watercolors.  You can see that as the light and direction changes, so does the color, in my little piece and also the colors on the background card. By the time we get out of quarantine I’m going to have all kinds of art to sell at the art shows that have been cancelled and rescheduled.  If you see anything you like in my posts these days they’re all for sale, just message me. Quarantined Artist

More Art versus Artist photos. I love this painting because it’s of one of our favorite cats ever. Quarantine Cheer

Do you need something cheery on your walls?  Something to help you through this quarantine?  This is it!

Quarantine Printmaking in The Woodlands

Making prints.  I’ll be selling these at art shows, that is if we have any art shows that aren’t CANCELLED. Now I’m printing on thin mulberry paper; you can see right through it and can’t make any mistakes.  It’s soo satisfying to get a good one.  Can you tell my print block from the prints in the first pic?

An Artist in Quarantine

Staying home and going into the print making business.  What are you doing while you’re at home? 

Aren’t these colors gorgeous? ❤️ I carve linoleum blocks (not pictured - sorry!). Once they’re done I roll on the ink!

The yellow and hot pink is one of my favorite color combinations.  I can find all kinds of things to do when I stay home!

Online Art Teacher

As long as we’re home, I might as well include you guys just a bit in my online art classes:

Japan is full of art! It’s not only in museums and galleries but right under your feet in the streets!  Aren’t they GORGEOUS???  My favorite is definitely the face.  And if anyone can figure out what that carwash looking one is, please let me know!

In the 80s someone came up with the idea of beautiful art on manhole covers to raise awareness and help pay for costly sewer projects.  Each city had art competitions for designs.  The designs usually speak about that which makes the city famous, for example if they make a certain product there or are famous for whale sitings.

The idea took off and soon cities were competing with each other for the best designs! Now there are manholes all over Japan and they are encouraging tourists and travelers to go to certain places to find special manholes!  Japan has been hard hit in the past years by acts of nature and these regions are creating special manholes to encourage tourists to come.  This will help with the rebuilding of these areas.

Even Pokemon has gotten into the game to help with disaster areas.  They want to encourage tourists to go see them.  Think about it… how could those Pokemon manhole covers help those places make money so they can rebuild?  (I wish WE had such pretty manhole covers!). They’re a delight, aren’t they? :)

Quarantine Time

Well, since we’re all quarantined I’ve sequestered myself in my studio and surrounding myself in violets and indigos.  I almost never show a painting before it’s done, but this background is just... so... cool. ❤️ 

An Artist Has Needs Too!
