Pippy’s Adventures Painting

Pippy’s checking out the work.  I don’t think he’s impressed. 😆 He’s more concerned with squirrels, birds, lizards and voles.
This one’s called ‘Oh, Pippy!’  For sale.  If you love cats I have an entire series called ‘Pippy’s Adventures.’ You can see the whole series and a bunch of videos if you check me out on Instagram as Color_Cat_Cindy or go to my website,

New Cat Painting

This painting, which I named ‘Oh, Pippy,’ (for all the times we say exactly that when he gets into trouble) will be revealed this evening in its entirety.  The crazy, wild background symbolizes all the trouble and messes he gets into.  For sale.

Here he is in his unfinished state, wild, crazy background to indicate his wild, crazy, troublemaking self. 🤭
You will find him tonight at colorcatstudios101.etsy.com

Welcome to my studio! This is The Room Where it Happens.🎬.  Remember when you look at this that Einstein said that an empty desk meant an empty mind and his space was a mess!

More Sketchbook Pages

Continuing my sketchpad digging to find pieces I’ve done on top of backgrounds which I pre-painted. I’m leading my art students through watercolors and we’re sticking to backgrounds only so it’s a little less intimidating.

I incorporated my molotow chrome marker for this floral so you have to compare photos to see how it reflects.

An Artist’s Sketchbook

This week I’m going through my sketchbooks to find examples for my art students for classes next week. I’m teaching them to paint in a non-intimidating way by painting backgrounds only, upon which we will start drawing next week.

You can see I obviously painted this background first, likely intending it to be a floral.  I think I drew this pretty lady from a magazine while flying from somewhere to somewhere, but... I really have no idea.  Anyway, here she is.  I thought she was as pretty as a flower, so it fit.

I make a practice of preparing my sketchbookpages with backgrounds of color because I usually just travel with pens.  With the background done, my work is also half done.

Michelangelo

We’ve been looking at Michelangelo in my art classes.  On the Sistine Chapel ceiling, this is one of the Old Testament prophets that foretold Christ’s coming. Through time we’ve been looking at how symbolism is changing.  Can you look at this picture and guess who the prophet is?

SPOILER ALERT!  The fish.  Jonah. The interesting thing here is that Michelangelo wasn’t content with just painting a figure.  As in all his work he wanted to create a figure at a particular moment.  An example is his sculpture David - at the very moment he was coiling his muscles and scrutinizing Goliath as he contemplated the kill (vastly different from all sculptures of David that went before.)

So, Jonah? Can you see here that God’s telling Jonah to go, and Jonah is struggling with ‘No, I don’t want to do that! I... think I’ll run away... I’m going to fight this...’  Every fiber of his being in this painting is struggling with God.  Only got Jonah into, uh, deep trouble, wouldn’t you say?  I guess the moral of the story is - let’s obey God the first time, shall we?

I teach at two locations, The Training Center
And HIS Classes (Homeschool Instructional Support Classes)

These are formal art classes that run through the entire school year for homeschoolers.  Both organizations offer all subjects; I just happen to be the lucky person to teach art.

I also teach super fun, super messy classes in the summertime so let me know if you’re interested.

Steampunk Clockwork Art

Here are four cards from my new Steampunk Clockwork series. These tiny pieces are now on my website and I’ll post a video soon featuring one so you can enjoy its color-changing goodness. These feature the coolest sealing wax embossing I’ve seen.  My previous post shows all 14 - all different and original yet united by theme.
I just posted them on my website; they come in a sealed acrylic envelope for display.

Here’s the website:
Oh man... aren’t they just so pretty?

I love them!  I hope you do too!

Holographic Stickers

New stickers!?!  YES! These holographic stickers are incredible.  Encourage your student this tough school year with some notebook-brighteners.  Just loaded them on my site; get them before they’re gone!  Where would you put one of these babies? After photographing them my eyes are tickled to the limit!  😍🔥❤️🥰.  WOW.

Mixed Media Sketch

Sometimes I just have to get my color out.  This one pretty much did it.  Colored pencil, paint pen and a silver pen. I have a really heavy hand with pencils of any kind and can’t seem to produce any kind of work without breaking them.  I tend to go for the pencils, graphite or colored that are big and fat. For me, they’re a little less prone to breakage and oh... that smooth lay down.

Sketchpad Art!

Ever want to peek inside my sketchpads? These are the inside covers which are a catch-all for life on the run.  Plus I like stickers.  I always hold the front and back covers of my pads for those cool things I want to put somewhere.  Ya know, I need to keep that sticker that came on my peach!

Often I will fashion a little pocket out of some kind of little bag to keep ticket stubs in and glue it inside the back cover.  I’ve used barf bags from airplanes and tampon bags from ladies’ restrooms.  Every time I open to those I laugh!

I remember when our oldest three were teens we traveled to Germany.  Everyone had a little black book and we had a competition to see who could collect the most and coolest graffiti stickers in their books.  Our 6’4” son won that battle because, well... he could reach stickers none of us could get to! So many memories in these sketchpads.

By the way, that orange target on this sketchpad that I drew on?  It’s a biodegradable floating target to put in the toilet for little boys to teach them good aim.  Hahaha!!
