Fluid Art Painting

I just listed this painting which I named ‘Chain of Events’ for the awesome copper chain that runs through it.  For sale, toes not included, but they DO help you to gauge the size.  You can find this and all sorts of lovely paintings and artistic merchandise at my website, www.colorcatstudios101.etsy.com.  It’s gift-giving season; there’s something for everyone here!

This beauty is a paint pour in steel blue, black, white and copper that will look fabulous in so many settings!  I ADORE the copper chain that runs through it.  It’s one of a four-part series of paintings - the second photo shows all four of them together WITH a banana.  Disclaimer - the banana is not for sale, go get your own.  It does help you to understand the size, though! 🙂 This piece is 16x20, the smallest painting of the four.  I painted it on gallery-wrapped (really thick and strong) canvas and it’s 1 1/2” deep and ready to hang. $350.00.  Perfect for, well, that perfect gift!!

New Series of Paintings

Vote #1, #2, #3 or #4; I’m very curious which painting you like best!  I’ve worked another series here and am in the varnishing process. Pretty sure I blew off some brain cells today doing THAT!  They’re getting many coats of UV protectant varnish.  These are pretty big pieces; you can judge by my toes and the leaves how big they are. Which is your fave?

This first one is the biggest, I haven’t measured yet but probably 34x40”. .... maybe? :)

#2 - This one is probably 24”x36”.... maybe...

#3, this one is a nice, cute size, at about 16x20”.  Artists do measure.  But we estimate a lot too.  In all honesty I’ve got a show coming up soI’m working hard.  Measurement isn’t as important right now as getting them varnished.  I put many coats on for serious protection, UV protection and a nice gloss.  THAT is what is important right now... getting the layers of varnish down, letting them dry, and adding more layers.  Time.

And coming in last but not least, #4.  This one is... hmmm... about 20”x18”.  Maybe.  Oh!  This is the only one I’ve posted on my website so far - so if you’re dying to purchase it before someone else gets their greedy little hands on it, you can find the size AND make it your own in a minute!

I WOULD appreciate your vote. :). These help me determine what my adoring public (haha) wants.

Paint Pours for Sale

This little beauty is just so much fun in its waves of cool, watery colors.  It reminds me of swimming and the water flowing around myself in rivulets.  I feel cool just looking at it!  In the center I put most of the iridescents which blend gloriously with the other colors as they reach outward.  Oh, I LOVE this one of a kind piece!

I painted it on a 6”x6” cradled wood support, and let the paint flow over the edges so even the sides look like art.  Note: this is an extremely thick layer of acrylics.  What do you do if it gets dusty?  Take a damp cloth to it.  That’s all!  The surface is impermeable. Wired and ready for hanging.  Www.colorcatstudios101.etsy.com.

An heirloom for $60.00!

Gifts in the Mail

Wouldn’t YOU like to get lovely packages in the mail filled with cool original art?  It’s possible!  Easy shopping and fun surprises as well.  You never know what kind of thank you gift I’m going to stuff into your package.  Now’s the time to start your Christmas shopping and you can get cool stuff in the mail AND get ahead of your gift-giving plans. 🙂. Always a good thing.  Www.colorcatstudios101.etsy.com.

And... if you happen to enjoy postage stamps, you never know what combination you’re going to get.  As a child I avidly collected stamps, actually well into my 20s.  I learned the political geography of the entire world because it was FUN and fascinating through the collecting of stamps.  It took me until I was an adult for me to realize that I was actually just collecting pictures.  Pictures!  What a surprise and how out of character for me, haha!  Even today I still go to the post office and stand in line to get the cool stamps with which to grace your packages. :)

‘Glorious’ Painting

Honestly, I think this might be my favorite one of all my pourings. The golds and reds have melded together so perfectly and the teals and blues compliment them so well that it’s a joy to follow the movement.

Oh my goodness, just look at this thing!

It’s 12x12” on cradled birch, heirloom quality paints for only $120.00. https://etsy.me/2UmAwyH. I wish somehow I could capture the beauty of this thing with a photograph, but alas, it is not to be.  Just know that it is ever so much more beautiful in person.  Signed on the side.  The birch box is about 1” thick, and I let the paint pour over the sides to continue the art.

Glorious!! You can find lots more pics on my website,

Paint Pouring Painting - ‘Rising’

You know, I began doing paint pouring in response to my shoulder surgery, which left me unable to mentally focus long enough to produce my ‘normal’ style of art.  But it’s become more than that.  The beauty of these works really moves me in a way that’s hard to describe.  Here’s the entire painting:

It’s also a huge challenge to get one of these to turn out and many I end up painting over.  But this one.  I call it ‘Rise,’ because for me the paint rises up like a stem of gladiola flowers.  The fact that there’s a little elephant in with the flowers I guess is just a bonus.  Do you see him?  He’s in this following picture:

Aw, goodness.  He looks like Dumbo. ❤️ Oh, the prettiness never ends with this one!

I just popped this on my website last night.  Believe it or not, these are ever so much more beautiful in person, with their deep, glossy colors.  You can find this painting and many others at www.colorcatstudios101.etsy.com.

Oh, goodness, I’m in love all over again!

Paint Pouring

Honestly, you guys, I think these things are bedazzling.  I’m working hard on Christmas gifts and will be loading them onto my website soon. I am loving this closeup.

This has been one of the most difficult summers of my life.  After shoulder surgery I really spent it all on physical therapy, shoulder care and trying to sleep.  It’s been far too much for me to do my ‘normal’ painting, but these paint flows have been really therapeutic. Since I’ve pretty much dedicated my life learning to color, all I had to do was learn the rudiments of pouring and I’m pretty happy with the results.

Oh my goodness, isn’t this gorgeous?  I ADORE the pearlescent paint mixed in!  Sooo cool!

After a dry summer of creating almost nothing it feels really good to be able to turn out something that I think is beautiful.  I hope YOU like them too!  This last one is the entire painting.
